Post arrival services
First Home Visit
- Case Manager will visit the new arrivals on the second day
- Will introduce himself/herself and tell them about a case managers role in resettlement
- Make the first assessment on the immediate needs of the refugee(s)
- Reiterate on the safety issues discussed with them on arrival
- proper maintenance of their residence
- Introduce them to the residence manager and assist them in signing the lease
Intake Services
- Case Manager will conduct intake services within three days after arrival
- Make copies of all basic documents (I-94, passport, overseas medical documents, promissory note)
- Describe the role of ACC in the resettlement process
- Explain their rights and responsibilities
- Explain what the main objective of resettlement is – to make every employable refugee self-sufficient through employment
- Get the signature of the refugee(s) on all basic documents
Cultural Orientation on a life in United States
- Case Manager will provide an intensive cultural orientation starting on the 7th. day and continuing through the 90th. day
Topics included are
- US Laws
- Health and public hygiene
- Budgeting
- Safety, landlord/tenant relationship
- Education
- Transportation
- Immigration and family reunification
SERVICE PROVISION
Case Manager will provide the following services
- Referral to other services provider
- Social Security card application
- Apply for public assistance
- Register children to school
- Register adults in English as Second Language school
- Refer to an in-house or other employment services programs
